Brambleside Community Primary School - Wildlife Garden

One of the smaller projects is at Brambleside School in Kettering where £1500 went to produce a wildlife garden and a small area of allotment for the children to grow crops.

Brambleside School Pond

Prior to conversion the site consisted of a pond and area of grassland which had little value for wildlife. But with the help of the teachers and various volunteers the pond area was completed and areas for children to grow various foodplants were constructed.

Brambleside School Vegetable Plot

A site for composting material, a propagation unit for plants and a feeding station for birds with small screen hide were also built. Interpretation panels were drawn by the children and produced by the school and are now on show in the garden. This area is now a favourite of the children says teacher Evelyn Clawson, who spent many hours setting up the site.
