RNRP SPONSORS NORTHAMPTON ALLOTMENTS NETWORK (NAN) YOUNG GARDENERS COMPETITION
Posted 1st June 2009
Northampton Allotments Network (NAN) is running a competition for Young Gardeners, which is being sponsored by the River Nene Regional Park CIC.
NAN is an organisation representing and acting on behalf of allotment holders for the benefit of allotment holders within Northampton. Formed at the beginning of 2006, NAN has grown into what is now a major driving force representing over 70% of Allotment fields in Northampton with more applying to join.
This is NAN's first competition of its kind, aimed at encouraging young gardeners aged between 5 to 12 years old, and will be an annual event. It is hoped that by encouraging young gardeners to learn how to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers they will develop a keen interest and will become budding enthusiasts of the future.
There will be three prizes awarded with the winner receiving a presentation cup sponsored by the RNRP, which will be awarded annually. All prize winners will be presented with a small cup to keep and gardening vouchers. In addition all competition entrants will receive a medal and certificate in recognition for their hard work.
Entry to the competition is free and entry forms are available from your local allotment committee or the Northampton Borough Council allotments.
There will be a Presentation of the Awards on 19th November 2009.
The entries must be with the NAN secretary (Elaine Hill) through your field committee by 23rd June 2009.
