Mid Nene Valley wetlands

BREATHING SPACES - MID NENE VALLEY

This project aims to bring a section of the Nene Valley between Wellingborough and Summer Leys nature reserve into good environmental management. Areas of former gravel extraction will be bought, and good land management of these areas will take place by working with the Northamptonshire Wildlife Trust and local farmers. The project will also involve the construction of a ‘greenway’ – a path open to walkers and cyclists that provides a link from Wellingborough Embankment car park through to Summer Leys nature reserve, along a disused railway line.

Climbing Boulders, Fox Covet

BREATHING SPACES - EAST NORTHAMPTON WOODLANDS

Lings Wood and Fox Covert are two woodlands in the Eastern District of Northampton. Lings Wood is the home of the Northamptonshire Wildlife Trust. There are various paths around and in this woodland site, and there is also an education centre for school visits, and a ‘Forest Schools’ site.
The project improves the access track to the site, and improves the woodland habitat, including clearance of non-native trees. Signs have been installed to help people find their way between Lings Wood and the nearby Fox Covert.
