Boughton Pocket Park

Boughton Pocket Park is at the heart of the village of Boughton in Northamptonshire. It is managed by a committee of villagers on behalf of the local community. RNRP has been working with the Pocket Park committee to secure grants for habitat and play improvements.

The project aim has been to improve the biodiversity value of the Local Nature Reserve by transforming the fields into a complex of permanent pools and seasonally wet scrapes, which are proving particularly attractive to wading birds and invertebrates including dragonflies. Access improvements have been carried out providing attractive community greenspace within walking distance of Northampton town centre.

With the Heritage Lottery Fund and The Wildlife Trust for Northamptonshire, Southwick Wood and land between Southwick Wood and Short Wood has been purchased, thus safeguarding the ancient woodland for the future.
