Resilient River - Elton Backchannel Project Completed

Resilient River - Elton Backchannel Project Completed

In May over 600m of fencing was erected at Elton backchannel to prevent cattle poaching, alongside this 3 pasture pumps were installed to provide the head of cattle with drinking water. The second part of the scheme was remedial works to the ford, this saw 40 tonnes of granite laid and 'tracked in' to help combat sediment input in to the channel.

Resilient River completes first project!

On the second of March the first of four river restoration schemes was completed at Stanwick Lakes. The Resilient Rivers scheme, supported by the Nenescape Landscape Partnership and the Environment Agency, completed the re-connection of a backwater to the main river channel.

The past, present and future importance of the River Nene  between Northampton and Peterborough will be highlighted by an earmarked grant┬╣ of £2.8m from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) announced today The grant is part of the Landscape Partnership (LP) programme┬▓. Through a series of projects, Nenescape aims to achieve a well-managed, understood and appreciated landscape that tells tales of times gone by; inspires a sense of adventure; is easy to explore; rich in wildlife, and resilient to the pressures of on-going population growth.

The RNRP is moving offices at the end of this month (June) and relocating to Kettering.

Here at the RNRP we are looking forward to a productive year ahead due to securing a full time Project Support Officer and retaining our River Restoration Adviser, if only on a part-time basis at the moment.

It is with great sadness that we announce the unfortunate loss of our Chairman Christopher Davidge. Christopher played a key role in setting up the company in 2007 and remained our Chairman until his passing in December 2014.
