Hedge & Tree Planting near Quinton Green
13 Jun 2012
This grant allowed the landowner to replant several kilometres of hedgerow around Quinton and Quinton Green.
A hedgerow link has been created from Salcey Forest up to Preston Wood (an ancient woodland) as this area is important for various butterfly species. Several new footpaths have been created and important features such as streams and ditches now have hedgerows alongside them.
Standard trees have been planted within several hedgerows to increase the stock in the future. As well as replanting hedgerows, any gaps within the remaining hedgerows have been filled with new plants.
Thanks to these works, the farm now consists of a good range of hedgerows for the first time in 30-40 years with a great benefit to wildlife and improving the landscape character.
