Higher Level Scheme

Several sites have applied for funding and been approved by Natural England under the Higher Level Scheme (Ox-hovel at Upper Heyford awaiting approval). This work has been advised, directed and facilitated, through direct consultation with landowners, by the RNRP Land Advisor. These projects are ongoing across the county:

Upper Heyford - meadow creation, hedge planting, hedgelaying, fencing, otter holt, protection of ridge and furrow, footpath creation, bird and bat boxes, field margins and possible restoration of a historic ox-hovel.

Flore - meadow restoration, hedge planting, hedgelaying, bird and bat boxes, fencing and pond restoration.

Wappenham - meadow restoration, hedgelaying, fencing, bird and bat boxes, removal of non-native species and ditch restoration.

Wollaston - meadow restoration, field margins, protection of SAM, hedgerow planting and restoration.

Next to Summer Leys - hedgerow planting and restoration, lake restoration, wild bird feeding, field margins, protection of historic features, and grassland restoration.

Yardley Hastings - hedgerow planting and restoration, pond restoration, field margins, woodland planting, protection of historic features, wild bird feeding, bird and bat boxes, orchard restoration, footpath creation and grassland creation.

Bozeat - Meadow management, field margins, pond restoration, protection of historic features, wildbird food, and hedgerow restoration.

Wansford - Meadow creation, access improvements, hedgerow restoration, field margins, wet grassland for wading birds, wildbird food, protection of Scheduled Ancient Monument, and hedgerow planting.

Grendon - Reedbed restoration, access improvements, boardwalk over reedbed, field margins, hedgerow restoration, wildbird food, rough grassland creation, pond restoration and ditch management. (pictures of reedbed and boardwalk)

Higher Level Scheme

Salcey Forest - meadow creation, woodpasture and parkland restoration, field margins, pond restoration, woodland plantings, access improvements, hedgerow planting and restoration, and scrub management.

Wollaston - hedgerow planting and restoration, management of historic features, open access, and interpretation material.

Other applications in progress at: Earls Barton, Kettering, on the River Ise at Newton, Arthingworth, Great Doddington, Oundle and Yardley Hastings.
