EVENT: Making the most of your soils. An interactive workshop on Soil Health

Join us on 6th March 2020 alongside Natural England, Defra, and the Environment Agency, for an informative, practical session on soil health and management. 

Guest Speakers:

Joe Collins - Nuffield Scholar and IfA

Anna Becvar - Earthcare Technical Ltd

Topics covered will include:

  • How to measure and monitor soil health - A practical session with Soil Science Demonstrations, using simple kitchen science and table-top methods you can repeat at home., using the AHDB Soil Health Scorecard.
  • Increasing soil organic matter - using cover crops and green manures, incorporated straw, companion planting and no-till conservation agriculture, with improvements of soil resilience to weather extremes, fuel efficiency, horsepower and farm profitability.
  • Changing rotations and choice of cultivations - to improve weed control and soil health - with benefits to soil biology, soil organic matter, and better use of nutrients.
  • CSF and Countryside Stewardship Offers relating to your soil issues.
