We're currently on the lookout for two passionate and creative organisations who can help share the incredible stories of the Nene with local communities and visitors through creative and exciting interpretation.

EVENT: Sustainable farming to get the most from organic materials - 2nd December 2016

This free event will cover the sustainable use of organic materials, including digestate, slurry, compost and manures. Anna Becvar of Earthcare Technical will discuss recent findings on the effects that these additives have on soil health, including earthworms and Soil Organic Matter. There will also be discussions on the effects these materials have on the surrounding environment and will discuss best practice application and usage.

Catchment Sensitive Farming Specialist Visits

Free one-to-one advice visits are still available on topics such as farm infrastructure audits, pesticide handling facilities, soil and nutrient management, as well as free fertiliser spreader and pellet applicator calibration. The advice you receive will be confidential and tailored to you farm business.

A Fresh Start for East Midlands FWAG

For over forty years, the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group has helped farmers to integrate wildlife friendly agricultural practices into their commercial farming businesses.

The aims of the group are as relevant now as they were then and now, three former Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group advisers have joined forces to form East Midlands FWAG. 

Remote Sensing Data Pilot in the Stonton Brook

Remote sensing data focused on predicting areas at risk of run-off will be used to guide discussion with farmers to adopt practical improvements on the ground. The Stonton Brook sub catchment will be a pilot area for this approach and will allow for areas at risk of run-off to be identified, based on slopes and other environment factors, combined with farmers’ own knowledge. 

Yardley Whittlewood Ridge:

The Woodland Trust is working with partners and landowners to increase woodland cover and connectivity on the Yardley Whittlewood Ridge. By joining pockets of woods and trees and protecting and enhancing ancient woodland remnants wildlife will benefit, ancient woodland will be safeguarded and land protected for the future.

Free Pesticide Handling Best Practice Workshop

River Trout Fishery Improvement Demonstration

The Wild Trout Trust, in association with the Environment Agency, is holding a demonstration of practical habitat improvement techniques for river trout fisheries.

The demonstration will take place on Saturday 27th February on the River Welland, Stamford.

Campaign for the Farmed Environment Events & Field Mix Offer

Campaign for the Farmed Environment (CFE) are running two events this November and places are filling fast so please book as soon as possible.

Both events will be covering green covers, greening and cross compliance with speakers from CFE, Kings and the Farm Advice Service.

CFE are also promoting their Environmental Seeds offer for 2015. 

POSTPONED

The NCP event on Models for Open Space Management scheduled for the 6th October has been postponed. 

 

This event will now take place on the afternoon of the 28th October, following the Water Framework Directive event in the morning.
