Northampton's multi-million pound marina officially launched by Environment Agency Chairman. Northampton's flagship marina officially launched Friday 30th March by Environment Agency Chairman Lord Chris Smith.
The Hellidon Millennium Fund provided funding to plant woodland on the slopes overlooking the golf course. A grant was given to this group to provide a flat footpath with steps to allow the steep slope to be climbed slightly more easily.
Funding has been agreed for Catchment Sensitive Farming to run for another two years with the added bonus that from March/April 2012 farmers within the priority areas will be able to apply for funding from the capital grant scheme (national pot).
The Rotary Clubs of Northampton staged their annual Dragon Boat Festival on 17th July 2011 at Midsummer Meadow. The event was being held by Northampton Rotary in support of the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and other local charities.
The Revital-ISE project has funded two dipping platforms at Newton Field Centre. The aims of these new platforms are to improve the experience and safety for the numerous schools visiting the centre and help protect the river.
This exciting new facility will be at the heart of the Northampton River Festival that will take place in Becket's Park on Sunday the 7th August 2011 to celebrate the River Nene having been navigable for 250 years.
