With the Heritage Lottery Fund and The Wildlife Trust for Northamptonshire, Southwick Wood and land between Southwick Wood and Short Wood has been purchased, thus safeguarding the ancient woodland for the future.

Southfield Farm Marsh Site of Special Scientific Interest

The Environment Agency (EA), with funding from Revital-ISE, has undertaken work for the Wildlife Trust at Southfield Farm Marsh Nature Reserve to help keep the Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) 'wetted up'. The Reserve lies between Kettering and Burton Latimer next to the River Ise and the A14.

Situated at the centre of the River Nene Regional Park, Stanwick Lakes cover 500 acres of former gravel pits in the Nene Valley. Previously owned by Hanson's Aggregates, East Northamptonshire District Council purchased the site with the view of creating a visitor attraction of local and regional significance.
