Enjoy and Protect our Waterways
If you're planning to make the most of the sunny weather and explore the River Nene this summer, there are multiple ways walkers, anglers, and communities can help the RNRP and our Nenescape team protect and conserve the Nene Valley. Here are just a few:
Clean the Nene - Along with our partners, we organise regular litter picking events in the Nene Catchment, but you can help us keep our riverbanks and waters free of plastic and other debris any day of the week. If you're planning a family outing during the summer holidays, why not make it an activity. Pack a picnic and a couple of bin bags and see who can clean up the most while you enjoy the stunning Northamptonshire countryside?
Learn to Fish the Right Way - Our Nenescape 'Let's Fish' collaboration with the Canal & River Trust is the perfect activity for getting kids (and grown ups) away from their screens and out onto the river. As well as learning a fun new skill, you'll also learn about how to fish sustainably and minimise your impact on the surrounding environment and wildlife.
Keep up to date on the latest 'Let's Fish' Events in your area by following the Canal & River Trust on Facebook.
Volunteer! - Our Nenescape Landscape Partnership is always on the lookout for volunteers in 3 broad roles; Historical research, Public Engagement, and Outdoor Conservation. If you want to really get your teeth into a worthwhile project this summer, they'd love to hear from you!

Share your Summer 2019 Memories - If you've been inspired by a summer stroll along the River Nene, our Nenescape 900 Voices of the Nene project would love to hear all about it. This rapidly-glowing archive of images, memories, stories, videos, poetry, and everything inbetween is ready and waiting for your contributions. So if you're planning to make memories along the riverbank this summer, pack your camera or a pen and paper and get involved!
You can browse the archive for inspiration and submit your own contributions at 900voicesofthenene.co.uk (and don't forget to tag @Nenescape and #900VoicesNene on social media!)
