On the second of March the first of four river restoration schemes was completed at Stanwick Lakes. The Resilient Rivers scheme, supported by the Nenescape Landscape Partnership and the Environment Agency, completed the re-connection of a backwater to the main river channel. The beginning of November marks the start of Nenescape, a five-year Landscape Partnership project supported by a £2.6m Heritage Lottery Fund grant. Thanks to Lottery players, the Nene Valley, its communities and visitors will benefit from 16 projects delivered by 11 partners over the next five years. Activities will provide opportunities for local people to develop skills, improve access to the water, restore wetland and wildlife habitats, uncover and celebrate the area’s history and develop tourism. For over forty years,
the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group has helped farmers to integrate
wildlife friendly agricultural practices into their commercial farming
businesses. We are currently experiencing some technical issues in the office with some staff members having limited access to e-mails also.
