Wildlife Trust - Help for Hairstreaks
14 Nov 2008
This was a countywide project to improve woodland management and provide suitable habitat for the regionally important butterfly the Black Hairstreak.
Work included a detailed survey of sites across the county, habitat management work and research into older records.
Other interesting events included training surveyors for the Black Hairstreak surveys. This happened at Glapthorn Cow Pastures in mid June when about a dozen volunteers learned how to identify suitable habitat, find this elusive butterfly and record it in a scientific manner.
