Green Infrastructure Grant Scheme (2006-2008)
09 Sep 2008
This scheme enabled the River Nene Regional Park to involve individuals and communities in enhancing the local environment by providing and enhancing green spaces to meet the needs of people and the environment.
The objectives of the scheme were to:
- Benefit urban, urban fringe and rural communities
- Improve access links between and within urban and rural areas
- Enhance the built heritage
- Improve the landscape
- Promote enjoyment and understanding of the countryside and the environment
- Resolve problems of misuse of the countryside and the environment
Chosen projects enhanced or, where appropriate, creatd green spaces that maintain and enhance the landscape character, while meeting community needs. In order to improve the local character of Northamptonshire, the grants focussed on environment character, biodiversity and heritage. By using traditional materials, traditional and innovative methods of construction and land management, and local and native species both the built and natural environment has been enhanced.
The scheme was available to individuals such as landowners, farmers or tenants, to businesses, and to community groups including parish councils, constituted community groups, schools, local planning authorities, volunteer and not for profit organisations.
All money has now been spent, but please put your projects forward to us, using the forms below, to be assessed for further funding in the future.
